Carolyn Wellesly Tue. 1 Sep.09, 12:56 [Reply (1 of 2) to: 'Digital Radiography' started by: 'Fernando Arrakani' on Sat. 4 Jul.09] Category: X-Ray Digital Radiography The imaging process and workflow may be more effective, with improved image quality due to better post processing possibilities. Computed radiography is half the way to digital, so the changes are low. Digital post processing and storing costs time, but a lot of running and carrying the imaging plate do not apply. Paul Harmon Sun. 7 Jun.09, 19:34 [Reply (1 of 2) to: 'Comparison CT vs. X-ray' started by: 'Bloom Sara' on Fri. 29 May.09] Category: Radiation Protection Comparison CT vs. X-ray Brain CT radiation exposure is usually higher than the received dose during a radiography of the head. Radiation dose from CT procedures varies based upon the type of procedure (slice thickness, number of slices, etc.), the type of CT equipment and its operation, so without knowing these details it’s hard to say how much radiation is received. An estimate can be performed by a radiation physicist based on the number of CT slices and technique used to determine total exposure to a person. However, the CT scan is more detailed and has better soft tissue discrimination than an x-ray that the benefit usually outweighs the risk. MRI scans provide high soft tissue contrast without radiation. The appropriate diagnostic imaging modality is depending on the indication and requested information.
